Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. In individual therapy, you’ll learn about acceptance and how to exert your power of choice over whatever life may throw at you. My job is to give you the tools and techniques to achieve a balanced fulfilling life style.

EMDR

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is a type of therapy used to treat trauma, PTSD, addictions, anxiety, depression, phobias, and other emotional problems. Numerous research studies have shown that trauma greatly impacts how human beings live their lives. Other research studies have shown there is a significant relationship between trauma and addiction.  â€‹

How Does it Work? An EMDR therapist works with the client to recall a disturbing memory, thought, or feeling. Then the therapist uses either visual (see), auditory (hear), or tactile (touch) in a moving side-to-side pattern (known as bilateral stimulation). This results in the brain reprocessing the disturbing memories and negative emotions, resulting in  more peaceful feelings.

Clinical Hypnotherapy

Clinical hypnotherapy is a gentle, evidence-based approach that uses focused relaxation and guided imagery to help you access the deeper layers of your mind, where habits, emotions, and memories are stored. Contrary to popular myths, it’s not about losing control or “being hypnotized." You remain fully aware and in charge the entire time.

In a hypnotherapy session, you’re guided into a relaxed, meditative state where your mind becomes more open to positive suggestions and insight. This can help you release unhelpful patterns, reduce anxiety, improve confidence, manage pain, and create meaningful change from the inside out. It is  a way to connect your conscious goals with your subconscious mind, so the two work together toward healing, growth, and balance. Think of it as a deeper meditation that is custom to your goals.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a supportive space where people come together to share, connect, and heal alongside others who understand what they’re going through. Led by a trained therapist, group sessions focus on creating a sense of community, safety, and belonging, so you don’t have to face life’s challenges alone.

Each group offers an opportunity to learn new skills, gain fresh perspectives, and practice healthy ways of relating to yourself and others. Whether the focus is on managing stress, building self-esteem, or recovering from trauma, group therapy helps you realize that growth often happens most powerfully in connection, with others walking a similar path.

Certified Wellness Counselor (CWC)
Inclusive Eating Disorder Specialist (IEDS)

As a Certified Wellness Counselor, I help you strengthen your overall well-being, emotionally, physically, and in the daily rhythms of your life. The CWC approach focuses on your strengths, your values, and the areas of wellness that matter most to you.

Together, we look at what supports you and what drains you, and we build practical, sustainable strategies that help you feel more balanced, resilient, and grounded. Whether you’re navigating stress, burnout, life transitions, or simply wanting to improve your overall quality of life, you’ll receive guidance that honors the whole you, not just your symptoms.

Our work centers on empowering you to create meaningful habits, reconnect with your purpose, and move toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.

As an Inclusive Eating Disorder Specialist, I provide care that honors you, your identity, your story, and the complexity of your relationship with food and your body. My training through Inclusive Eating Disorder Education focuses on compassion, inclusivity, antiracism, and a weight-neutral, trauma-informed approach to healing.

You’ll never be judged for how your eating disorder shows up. Instead, we work together to understand the emotional, cultural, and physical factors influencing your experience. Whether you’re navigating restriction, binge eating, body image concerns, compulsive exercise, or lingering shame around food, you deserve support that sees the whole you.

In our work, you can expect:

  • A safe, affirming space that respects your background and lived experiences

  • Approaches grounded in evidence-based care and current ED-informed education

  • Collaboration at a pace that feels supportive, not overwhelming

  • A focus on rebuilding trust with your body and reconnecting with your values

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. My role is to walk with you, offer guidance, and help you move toward a more peaceful, empowered relationship with food, your body, and yourself.

Health at Every Size® (HAES®)

Health at Every Size® is a compassionate, evidence-based approach that challenges traditional ideas about weight and health. Instead of focusing on the number on the scale, HAES emphasizes well-being, self-acceptance, and respect for body diversity.

This perspective honors that health is influenced by many factors, physical, emotional, social, and environmental, and that each person’s journey toward wellness is unique. The HAES framework encourages individuals to nourish their bodies, move in ways that feel good, and cultivate a positive relationship with food and self, without shame or judgment.

At Grounded Minds Counseling, this approach supports clients in creating lasting, sustainable change from a place of kindness, curiosity, and trust in their bodies, not restriction or punishment.
